Moving in: how to transfer the utilities to your name
Step eight, the last in the guide: ownership is registered and the keys are yours. How to transfer electricity, gas and water to the new owner, and what to do about rubbish collection and registering at your new address.

Contents
First, the day you get the keys
It all starts on the day the seller hands over the keys. Read all the meters together and take photos of them. Ask for the latest bills and account codes — companies use them to find your apartment quickly.
- Gas, water and electricity meter readings — with a photo and the date.
- The account code for each service.
- Paid bills for the last month: there should be no arrears.
- Your ownership certificate and passport — you will need them everywhere.
Who supplies what
| Service | Company | What to bring |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity | Electric Networks of Armenia | An identity document and a document proving your right to the apartment |
| Gas | Gazprom Armenia | Passport or ID card and an ownership certificate or purchase document |
| Water and sewerage | Veolia Jur (Yerevan and several regions) | Passport or ID card and an ownership certificate or purchase document |
| Rubbish collection in Yerevan | Yerevan Municipality | Since 2025 the fee is based on the apartment's floor area |
Electricity
At Electric Networks of Armenia a change of owner is handled as opening a new consumer card for an existing connection, in other words a change of name. For residential customers the company's rules require a copy of an identity document and a copy of the document proving the right to the premises. Check service centre addresses and how to apply on ena.am or via the company's hotline.
Gas
Gas is supplied by Gazprom Armenia. According to the service description on the government platform hartak.am, a contract requires a passport or ID card and an ownership certificate or purchase document; the application is made in person at a regional gas office. If a tenant applies, the owner's written consent is needed. Check the procedure and any fee for a change of name at the office in advance.
Water
Water supply and sewerage in Yerevan are run by Veolia Jur. Its customer service offices handle changes of account holder. According to hartak.am, applying for a contract is free, you need a passport or ID card and an ownership certificate or purchase document, and the contract is issued within 15 working days. After that you can pay for water using the contract code or the account holder's phone number.
Rubbish, the building and registration
- Rubbish collection in Yerevan is paid to the municipality. Since 1 January 2025 the fee has been calculated by the apartment's floor area rather than the number of residents.
- Find out who manages the building, how much the monthly fee is and where to pay it.
- Registration at your place of residence is done at the passport office, with an identity document and the ownership certificate. In Yerevan you book an appointment in advance.
- Internet and TV — a new contract with a provider in your name; the seller cancels their own contract.
Key points
- On handover day, read and photograph all the meters.
- Electricity, gas and water are transferred at different companies; almost everywhere you need an identity document and proof of ownership.
- Before signing the handover note, make sure the bills show no arrears.
- Don't forget rubbish collection, the building management fee and registering at your new address.
